Ely Cathedral (5 images)

On Tuesday 15th October, Yr 5 and 6 went to the stunning Ely Cathedral. We had a busy morning learning about Christianity across the world. We tried on clothes from India and tasted food from Trinidad. We also learnt traditional dances and were taught Swahili. In the afternoon, we worshipped and sang with many children from across the county. We shared our prayers and thoughts.

Hunts School Sports Partnership QuadKids Athletics Competition Tuesday, 11 June 2013 at St Ives Outdoor Centre Some of our Year 5 and 6 children went to compete against 21 other schools from the county. Each child had to compete in the 70 m sprint, 600 m, howler and standing long jump.

Cambridgeshire Primary School Cross-Country Relay Championships 2013 (4 x 1200 m) Year 5 and 6 children took part in this event at Priory Park and the results were remarkable.

Great Paxton were lucky enough to have the Guiness World Record Holder Matti Hemmings in school yesterday (22nd May). This was the prize for coming 1st for the East of England Region in the Bike It competition that we had last term. The children loved it! More photos to follow soon!

The children in Lime Class are having great fun learning about the fictional Isle of Struay. As well as finding out about the people who live there and what life is like on the island, they have discovered a lot about the physical features of Struay. They have enjoyed making their own map of the island, drawing some of the characters, weaving with both paper and fabric and drawing thistles.

Willow Class have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians. (14 images)

We had great fun mummifying a chicken! Also we discovered an ancient Egyptian Tomb and had to decide who it belonged to. We became archaeologists, museum transporters, researchers, company managers and illustrators. The sarcophagi were then transported to Dr Khann in Manchester and the artefacts went to the Museum of Cairo in London.
