Reception

Our topics for the Autumn Term are Who do you think you are? and mini topics based on the children’s interests  Children are encouraged to bring in anything related to our topic or their interests to share with the class. Please note we discourage bringing in children’s own toys unless requested.

Because of the free flow activities children enjoy, which include indoor and outdoor learning, we encourage you to send in a spare set of clothing for your child.

Children will take home a daily communication book to allow messages to be passed between home and school.

Children’s homework folders will be collected in on Thursdays and new Phonics, Handwriting and Reading homework will be handed out on a Friday.

Homework

Children are asked to practise their phonics every day and read every night with an adult. Please write a short comment and/or sign your child’s communication book. These will be checked regularly by the teacher/ teaching assistant. When your child is ready for a new book please let us know via the communication book and we will change it.

P.E. day:  Friday morning

Please ensure your child has the appropriate PE kit in school at all times (see the school prospectus for details on what to provide for this).

Year One

Our topic for the Autumn Term is Who do you think you are? Children are encouraged to bring in anything related to our topic work to share with the class. We will be looking at different places in the world where we have family and friends, learning to draw portraits and discussing how our bodies work.

Homework will be set on a Tuesday and should be completed by the following Monday.

Children are asked to read daily with an adult. Please write a short comment and/or sign your child's communication book. Please support your child by listening to them read, asking questions about the text and helping with any unfamiliar words. Reading Folders and Communication books should be in school every day.

P.E. days:  Tuesday & Wednesday (outdoor - weather permitting)   Children will be taking part in Zumba with a qualified instructor every Tuesday afternoon and a variety of PE units with Mrs Marriot on Wednesday afternoons.

Please ensure your child has the appropriate PE kit in school at all times (see the school prospectus for details on what to provide for this).
