Olympic Legacy Sport Premium Funding 

 

Background:

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for Physical Education (PE) and sport.  This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision. This funding is ring fenced to be used for sport specific areas to make an impact in Physical Education and Sport in schools.

 

Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and Sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of. 

 

Impact of Sports Premium 2016:

  • School achieved the Silver Games Mark 2015/16
  • All pupils are provided with 2hrs of timetabled PE per week
  • 56% of children are engaged in extracurricular sporting activity each week
  • The school participated in competitions for Athletics, Cricket, Hockey, Netball, Tennis, Cross-Country, Rugby and Football
  • A Sports Crew actively supports leading and managing PE in school
  • School utilises sports coaches to support school sport activity

 

Targets for Sports Premium 2017:

  • Achieve the Gold Games Mark for 2016/17
  • Train wider school staff to support school sport
  • Engage students in the planning and development of School Games activities
  • Develop links with local sports clubs
  • Promote School Games to parents and the local community
  • Engage more pupils in leading, managing and officiating School Games activities
  • Adapt school policy to state that we support GT athletes and promote this with staff
  • Continue to develop level 1 and level 2 events
