Welcome to Birch Class - Year 4/5

Mr Wilkerson, Miss Lewis and Mrs Moore

Our topic for this term is WWII. Children are encouraged to bring in anything related to our topic work to share with the class - although we are wary that old medals and artefacts from the time should be treated with a care and consideration that may not resonate with all of the children.

In Science this term, children will be learning about Animals (Including Humans).

We are making some changes to homework this term:

Maths homework will now be much smaller and given out twice a week, the first will be handed out on Monday to be given in by Wednesday and the second from Wednesday to be handed in the next Monday.

Reading homework will be handed out on Thursdays to be handed in on Wednesday.

Spellings will be issued on Monday for a test on the following Monday.

Children are asked to read at least three times a week (preferably daily) either with an adult or independently and to keep a brief record in their reading diary. Please support your child by listening to them read, asking questions about the text and helping with any unfamiliar words.

P.E. days:  Tuesday (Zumba), Wednesday (Tennis) and Friday (Cricket).

Please ensure your child has the appropriate PE kit in school at all times, as we will be looking to try and keep ourselves outside as much as possible when the sun is out!

Please ensure your child has the appropriate PE kit in school at all times, particularly their outdoor kit as we will be endeavouring to do as much PE outdoors as we can before winter (see the school prospectus for details on what to provide for this).
