Admissions for Reception Year 2026

• If your child was born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022, and you live in Cambridgeshire you need to apply for Reception for September 2026.

Before you apply for a school place

1. Check you are applying to the correct council. If you are a Cambridgeshire resident you will make your application through the Cambridgeshire Admissions Team, even if you want to apply for a school outside of Cambridgeshire.
2. Research your options, understand what a catchment school is and how it affects your application and school transport. Look at admissions data, school's inspection results and performance data. 
3. Make sure you read the First Steps booklet, available below. This will explain the application process from start to finish. The booklet also contains a list of all the Infant, Junior and Primary schools in the Cambridgeshire area, along with their allocation criteria.

Making your application

Please apply online using our online application form which will be available from the 11^th September. Only complete if you are applying for Reception 2026, Year 3 of a Junior school 2026 or a Middle school 2026.

You will be able to print your application after you submit. You will receive notification of your offer on 16 April 2026.

NATIONAL CLOSING DATE Applications must be received by this date. Applications received after 15 January 2026 will not be considered until the second round of allocations.

Admissions for Secondary School

If your child was born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 and you live in Cambridgeshire, you’ll need to apply to transfer to secondary school for a place starting in September 2026.

Making your application

Please apply online using our online application form (Only complete if your child is moving into Yr 7 for September 2026)

This will be available from the 11 September 2025.

• You will receive notification of offer on the 2 March 2026.
