Welcome to Great Paxton CE Primary School 2020

Class Teacher: Mrs Gallacher

Teaching assistants: Mrs Carter (everyday)

Mrs Carter and Mrs Moore (Wednesday pm)

Mrs Carter and Mrs Lake (Friday pm)

Our class timings:

Start: 8.45am

This first half term is all about settling our new reception into school and getting to know each other, establishing relationships and learning school routines. For our year 1s it is very much about supporting their transition from EYFS to the year 1 curriculum. Our learning is mainly play based and around the children’s own interests.

We will also have a topic on TOYS!

PE is very much play based on the playground and trim trail (weather dependant). This happens daily and does not require the children to wear PE kits.

Homework: Once children are settled into school they will take home letter sounds and tricky troll words to practise and learn by sight at home (information about this will be given prior). Weekly pencil control activities will be handed out.

Year 1s will also have individual spellings to practise and learn daily as well as reading practise. Weekly handwriting and number practise will also be set.

We ask that completed homework is not returned to school to avoid the risk of bringing covid 19 into our class bubble but can be shared either via Tapestry for Reception and Google Classroom for year 1 (more information to follow).

Now our reception children are settled into school we are beginning to log their learning on Tapestry. Please look out for your Tapestry log in details which will be emailed to you on Friday 2nd October.

  •  We as a staff give reassurance to our children that we are there for them as Jesus was for his flock. We will care and look after them, we will teach them and do not leave anyone behind.
